SERSHA would like to congratulate Michael Best, Executive Director and the Greenville Housing Authority located in Greenville, NC for their newly designed home with disability access!
The housing authority hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the home, which is complete with handicapped parking, no-step access, and many other features that will ease the life for the family moving in.
According to the article, HUD requires about 5% of the homes to be handicap accessible. With that being said, there is a huge need for accessible units that just don't exist.
While this unit has already been leased, there is a huge market for accessible units and we can only hope and pray that more areas receive the opportunity to design and develop homes that will meet the needs of a large part of our population.
