SECTION 8 INSPECTOR & LANDLORD TRAINING ON HQS (HOUSING QUALITY STANDARDS): AUGUST 3-4, 2022

HQS are the HUD minimum quality standards for tenant-based programs, required both at initial occupancy and during the term of the lease.  Maintain strong ties between inspectors and landlords by ensuring that both thoroughly understand the required elements of HQS.  The workshop will provide current information on general room standards, kitchens, bathrooms, electricity, plumbing, and security, including the lead-based paint regulations. Also, during this workshop, the trainers will instruct the Landlord on the correct way to complete all necessary paperwork needed. The landlord will be able to ask any questions concerning the voucher process.

FAIR HOUSING & REASONABLE ACCOMODATION:
AUGUST 3-4, 2022

Participants will gain practical knowledge through hands-on case study activities developed from current, real life fair housing legal actions, recent HUD voluntary compliance agreements (VCAs), HUD regulations and notics, and fair housing audits.  Upon completion, you should be able to explain and apply critical fair housing laws, regulations, and guidance to assure compliance in HUD's multifamily, housing choice voucher (HCV) and public housing programs.

  • The process HUD uses to conduct its quality assurance reviews over VMS reporting and how to prepare for a QAD review.

  • The EHV program, how vouchers are awarded, the HAP funding provided, the available fees, obligation and disbursement documents and the financial management and reporting requirements.

  • The various new fields that were added to the VMS, the information they require, and other updats made in the 4/2022 release.

  • HUD's strategic goal of increasing on a national basis HCV leasing and funding utilization.

  • HUD requirements for detemining applicable portability administrative fee rates to use in the portability billing process.
